Hit and Run Accident
A child is in the hospital after being hit by a car Sunday night.
The driver who hit the little girl took off.
Police are still searching for the driver of a red Dodge Caravan that witnesses saw leave the scene.
Witnesses told News 4 the toddler somehow got out of the gate at her apartment complex near General McMullen and West Martin on the west side. Her mom wasn't able to get to her before she ran into the street.
That is when witnesses say a red Caravan drove by and hit the little girl and the driver of the van never stopped.
The child was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.
Witnesses say the injuries were a hard thing for them to see.
"She had a cut on her face, and I believe on the back of her head also. And you could see the tire marks on her," said Vanessa Hernandez, who saw the accident happen. "She was responding afterwards. She was crying. She'll be okay, hopefully."
