Three - Vehicle Wreck in Fort Worth

Officials have released the name of the man who died Friday in fiery three-vehicle wreck on westbound NE Loop 820 in northwest Fort Worth.

The Fort Worth News reported, Jason Powell, 25, was identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.

Public records show that he was married, a resident of Flower Mound and a licensed pilot.

Powell died Friday afternoon when his four-door Nissan was sandwiched between a tanker truck that was stopped in a traffic jam on the loop and an oncoming concrete truck, which was out of control, police said.

The car was squeezed out of the wreckage, but Powell died instantly, police said.

Flames engulfed both trucks, but the drivers got out and were taken to Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital.

The accident was still under investigation last week, but police said investigators were checking to see if the driver of the concrete truck was negligent. If so, he could be charged with criminally negligent homicide, police said.
