Out of Control Vehicle Kills Pedestrian

A 79-year-old man standing in the center median on a south Dallas street was killed Wednesday when he was hit by a car that was spinning out of control, police said.

The Fort Worth News reported, Victor Pineda died at the scene in the 700 block of West Kiest Boulevard, according to a police report. The area is west of the merge for U.S. 67 and Interstate 35E.

The driver of the car and an 8-year-old boy, who was his passenger, were taken to the hospital, said Senior Cpl. Janice Crowther, police spokesman.

Their medical conditions, however, were unavailable early Thursday.

But the driver, Marquise Nash, 27, faced charges of vehicular homicide and child endangerment, police said.

The driver appeared to be "totally out of control" and speeding while eastbound on West Kiest, according to reports.

The car, a green 1997 four-door Mercury, was "spinning around in circles in the roadway," police said.

Then it hit another car, Crowther said.

"After striking the vehicle, the suspect made another U-turn striking a pedestrian who was crossing the street," Crowther said. "The suspect vehicle then came to rest after wrecking out into a fence at the location."

No other information was immediately available Thursday.
