Man Injured Falling out of Pickup

A man riding in the back of a pickup and holding a mattress was seriously injured when the truck hit a bump and sent the man and mattress airborne, Grand Prairie police said.

The Dallas Morning News reported, the man, who was not immediately identified, suffered major head trauma and was last listed as undergoing surgery at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, said Grand Prairie police detective John Brimmer today.

The incident occured at about 5:30 Monday on State Highway 360 in southern Grand Prairie just north of West Camp Wisdom Road, officials said.

Last year, two men who were sitting on a piece of plywood in the back of a pickup were injured when the plywood flew out of the truck with them on it. The incident occured as the men headed to a construction site on Wagley-Robertson Road in Fort Worth.

One of the men, a 26-year-old from Irving, later died from his injuries.
