Man Killed When Car Lands in Swimming Pool

A 19-year-old man was killed over the weekend when his pickup crashed through a wooden fence and landed upside-down in a backyard swimming pool in Coppell.

The Dallas Morning News reported, the incident happened about 11:20 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Leslie Lane, Coppell police said.

Adam Christopher Hartwick of Coppell was transported to Lewisville Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said today. He was the only person in the red 2001 Dodge Dakota truck.

The cause of death is unknown at this time, but Coppell police are investigating.

Sad that as much as you try to fortify the area around swimming pools, something will always go wrong. Many times customers in high traffic areas - believe it or not - request pricing for iron fencing because this type of accident is fairly common. It is also a good idea to put large boulders around your pool area to prevent an accident like this. All of these precautions may have saved your swimming pool and a life.
