Tractor Trailor Accident

The driver of a tractor-trailer hauling water bottles died Thursday night after veering off the roadway in Benbrook and crashing underneath a highway bridge, police officials said.

8000 S. Loop 820 in Benbrook The identity of the truck driver was not released, pending the notification of next of kin, Benbrook police spokesman Mike Ford said.

The Dallas Morning News reported, The man was driving west in the 8000 block of Southwest Loop 820 at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday when he swerved to the right shoulder of the highway and underneath the Winscott Road bridge, Lt. Ford said.

Three other vehicles traveling in the same direction also were involved in the crash. One man suffered minor injuries and was driven to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Lt. Ford said.

The bridge was closed Thursday night so officials of the Texas Department of Transportation could examine it for structural damage. It was reopened by early Friday, police said.
