Six injured in head-on collision

A two-car head-on collision near Denison, Texas, sent six people to the hospital on Thursday afternoon. Two of the victims had to be transported by helicopter to nearby hospitals.

The car accident took place on Richerson Road, just east of Denison, at about 4:00 pm. One of the cars was driven by 19-year-old Brittani Barnett; the other driver, also 19, was Rex Morgan. The other four injured victims ranged in age from 9 to 17 years old.

The two vehicles were traveling down the center of a narrow road when they collided head-on. One of the cars burst into flames upon impact. The door had to be cut off one of the vehicles in order to free a passenger.

According to police, possible factors contributing to the accident may be speed and a failure to yield to the right-of-way.
