Fatal wreck on I-35W in Fort Worth

The passenger of a car was killed Tuesday in a fatal wreck on I-35W in Fort Worth which also injured the driver and another person.  Authorities say that a man was driving drunk on the highway at a high rate of speed when he struck another vehicle from behind.  The man then lost control of the vehicle, which rolled over several times before coming to a stop.  The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The alleged drunk driver and the other injured individual were treated at area hospitals.

One kill, three injured in SUV rollover crash

One person was killed and three others were critically injured in a one-vehicle crash in Crossroads on U.S. Highway 380.  The man who was killed was pronounced dead at the scene.  Two crash survivors were taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital while a third was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton.  All three were critically injured.  Witnesses report that the SUV, a Ford Explorer, was eastbound on the highway when the driver attempted to turn north on E. Rock Hill Road.  The driver lost control, the SUV hit the guardrail and then rolled over.

Accident in Denton injures two children, one adult

Two children and one adult were injured in a recent accident on I-35W in Denton, near the Golden Triangle Boulevard exit.  The victims were driving northbound in the far right lane in a small sedan when the car they were riding in veered into the side of another vehicle traveling in the same direction.  The sedan then pulled hard to the right, and ran off of the road surface.  The occupants of the other car were not hurt.

Single-SUV accident at Inwood exit injures two

Two people were injured in a single-SUV accident on northbound I-35E near the exit ramp for Inwood Road today.  Witnesses report that the driver apparently steered into a grassy area near the exit and struck an object before the SUV overturned.  Two people suffered injuries that authorities say do not appear to be life-threatening.

Grandview officer hurt in car wreck

A Grandview police officer was seriously injured this week in a wreck in the 3800 block of County Road 405, northwest of Grandview.  The officer lost control of his car on a 90-degree turn while responding to a disturbance involving a man and two women.  Investigators say that his car slid off of the roadway and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.  The officer was taken by helicopter to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, where he is in critical condition.

Three killed, two hurt in tractor-trailer incident

Two teenagers and an adult were killed, and two other teenagers were injured, in a wreck involving a tractor-trailer in Fort Worth.  The wreck happened at the rest area on U.S. 81/287 near Decatur when the Dodge Stratus carrying the victims slid beneath the back of a parked truck.  Witnesses report that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed, perhaps as much as 90 miles per hour.  The impact was so powerful the top of the Stratus was sheared off.  The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Child hurt in motorcycle crash

An infant was injured in a motorcycle crash today in the 9000 block of Lake June Road in Dallas.  Authorities say that a 12 year old was holding the infant while riding a small motorcycle on a public road.  The boy lost control of the motorcycle and crashed it into a curb.  The infant was taken to an area hospital and listed in serious condition.  The boy was slightly injured and was treated at the scene.  The adult who was responsible for the infant was inside a nearby apartment when the accident occurred.

Wrong-way crash on I-30 kills one,injures three

A wrong way crash on I-30 at Ferguson Road Sunday morning left one person dead and sent three others to the hospital.  A woman driving a Ford F-150, who had two passengers with her, was going eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway.  She crashed head on into a Chevy Tahoe.  One of the passengers, Ana Tello of Mesquite, died at the scene.  The drivers of both cars and the other pickup passenger were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Motorcyclist killed in accident withcar

A motorcyclist was killed in Tarrant County Friday when his vehicle collided with a Nissan Cube.  The accident occurred on Bonds Ranch Road in Fort Worth.  Authorities say that the driver of the Cube was pulling away from a stop sign on the northbound feeder road of 287 when the collision occurred.  Witnesses say that, after striking the Cube, the motorcycle continued approximately 120 feet down the roadway until it crashed and burst into flames.  The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene.

Woman killed and three hurt as car splits in two

A woman was killed and three others were hurt when the car they were riding in crashed into a light pole and split in two.  The driver lost control of the car on southbound I-35W in Fort Worth.  Witnesses reported that the car traveled approximately 40 feet on top of a concrete barrier in the center median before striking the light pole.  The woman who died was trapped in the half of the car that burst into flames after the accident.  The injured individuals were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.

Four children hurt when car crashes into home

Four boys were hurt when a car crashed into a home in Lancaster.  Witnesses reported that the car ran a stop sign before running into the residence.  Investigators say that the car traveled about 12 feet into the home in the 800 block of West Pleasant Run Road.  The boys, whose ages range from 10-12, were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Man dies from injuries suffered when he was hit along I-30

A Haltom City man has died from injuries he sustained when he was struck by a vehicle as he walked along I-30 in Fort Worth.  The man, Gary Arnold, 59, died at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.  The medical examiner has rule that his cause of death was blunt force trauma.  The accident occurred in the 7700 block of I-30.  Authorities are investigating this accident.

Three children hurt in Pleasant Grove accident

Three children and one adult were hurt in a hit-and-run accident in Pleasant Grove.  The children were passengers in a minivan that was traveling south on Masters Drive when a Lincoln Navigator ran a stop sign at Muskogee Drive.  The Navigator struck the minivan.  The driver of the minivan escaped injury, but an adult passenger and three children were taken to area hospitals for treatment.  The Navigator fled the scene, but was later recovered by police after it was found abandoned nearby.  The investigation remains open until authorities locate the driver of the Navigator.

A pedestrian was hit Thursday in the lower Greenville area of Dallas.  Witnesses report that the individual, a man, was struck while trying to cross Greenville Avenue, by a pickup truck traveling at a moderate rate of speed.  The man was knocked down.  He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Two children and two adults were injured in an accident on U.S. Highway 287 Thursday morning.  The accident occurred near the intersection of 287 and Blue Mound Road in northwest Fort Worth.  Authorities report that the individuals were ejected from the automobile in which they were riding.  The children were taken to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth for treatment.

I-30 wreck injures two

A wreck on I-30 east in Dallas today injured two people and slowed rush hour traffic to a crawl.  One car, a late model Ford, was involved in the accident.  The driver apparently lost control and skidded off the roadway near the Motley Drive exit.  The car overturned, and the driver and one passenger were injured in the crash.

Five injured in explosion in restaurant

Five people were injured in a gas explosion in a Mexican restaurant in Gainesville, Texas.  Three women, a young girl and a toddler are being treated at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for burns.  One victim is in critical condition, while the other four are in serious condition.  The natural gas explosion occurred in the restaurant's kitchen.  Investigations continue.

Big rig crash on I-35 injures driver, scatters graham crackers

An 18-wheeler on I-35E in Dallas overturned near Colorado Boulevard.  The wreck blocked traffic for hours.  The driver was injured in the wreck, and was treated at an area hospital.  No other vehicles were involved. 

The truck was carrying a load of graham crackers, and the cargo was unloaded onto the roadside when the truck was cleared.  Motorists stopped to gather the crackers, until health officials arrived and said no more.

Woman thrown from pickup truck bed, killed

A woman died from injuries sustained after being thrown from a pickup truck bed in Arlington.  The woman, Amy Joette Wheat, 38, was an employee of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, and was riding in the back of a government truck when she was apparently thrown into a light pole in the 4800 block of Belt Line Road.  Wheat's co-workers attempted to transport her to a hospital, but she died en route.

Ron Kirk injured by ladder crashing through windshield

Ron Kirk, the current U.S. Trade Representative who served as Mayor of Dallas from 1995-2002, was injured Wednesday in Grand Prairie.  A metal ladder fell onto I-30 and was struck by a tractor-trailer.  The ladder then crashed through the windshield of Kirk's car.  Kirk was treated at a hospital for minor injures and then release.

Motorcyclist dies in wreck with SUV

A 24 year old man died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV in Grand Prairie.  The man was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.  The motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Main Street when he collided with the SUV, which was turning from the westbound lane onto SW 14th Street.  The motorcyclist was taken to Methodist Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

18-wheeler crash kills Frisco mom and two kids, injures more

A Frisco woman and her two young children were killed, while her husband and the children's father was critically injured, in a wreck on I-20 in Kaufman County this weekend.  The family was traveling in heavy traffic in an SUV when an 18-wheeler struck them from behind.  The force of the impact was enough to push their SUV into another car, which in turn was pushed into another 18-wheeler and into the highway median.  The SUV then caught fire.  The driver of the first truck was injured, as were the driver and passengers in the second car.
