Woman killed by Forest Hill crash

A Dallas woman has died as a result of injuries sustained in a wreck on Forest Hill.  The woman, Marcella Anderson, a paraplegic, was trapped in her wrecked vehicle in the 5300 block of SE Loop 820.  She had been traveling in a van when the van struck a wall.  Anderson was taken by paramedics to a Fort Worth hospital where she died.  Authorities are investigating the wreck to determine the cause, and also to find out whether any other vehicles were involved.

Driver injured in firey crash on Dallas North Tollway

A Cadillac was stalled in traffic on the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway near the Trinity Mills Road exit when another vehicle crashed into its rear.  The Cadillac was pushed into a retaining wall and burst into flames.  A Dallas police officer was near the accident and is credited with saving the driver of the Cadillac.  The officer broke the passenger side window and pulled the driver out of the burning car to safety.  The driver, who is expected to survive, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.  No word on injuries in the other car.

One killed, one injured by Houston airport tram

A tram car that ferries passengers between terminals at Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport has struck two people, injuring one and killing the other.  The accident occurred as the two victims were working on newly built track near Terminal B of the airport.  The tram was traveling about 33 miles per hour when it struck the victims.

Two killed in downtown Fort Worth wreck

Two men were killed in a downtown Fort Worth wreck that occurred in the 1000 block of Macon Street, near Fire Station No. 2.  The men were riding in a vehicle traveling southbound on Macon at a high rate of speed when the vehicle veered off the roadway, hit a curb and then struck a tree.  The two men were pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment.

Grandview man dies after Cleburne rollover accident

A Grandview man died of injuries he sustained in a rollover crash near Cleburne that occurred Sunday.  Authorities say that the accident occurred near the intersection of FM 1434 and County Road 1224.  The victim, Michael Rollins, was traveling eastbound on FM 1434 in a pickup truck when it left the right side of the roadway surface.  Rollins apparently over-corrected and the vehicle rolled over.  Rollins was ejected from the vehicle.  He was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, where he later died from his injuries.

Two injured in wreck on 635 at Jupiter

Two people were injured in a wreck on I-635 near the Jupiter Road exit today in Garland.  Authorities report that the two victims were in a vehicle traveling westbound on the highway in a sedan when they were struck from behind by a pickup truck.  The wreck caused the sedan to spin around.  It came to rest in the inside emergency lane.  The driver of the sedan and its passenger were taken to an area hospital for treatment.  The pickup truck driver was not injured.

Man dies from injuries sustained in Arlington wreck

A man has died from injuries he sustained in an Arlington traffic accident.  Authorities say that the man was injured in a wreck near the intersection of Cooper Street and Turner Warnell Road in Arlington.  He suffered abdominal injuries in the wreck.  He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he later died.

Arlington first grade student struck and killed by vehicle

An Arlington first grade student was tragically killed Wednesday morning as she was walking to school with her mother.  Authorities report that the child ran into the median of Park Springs Boulevard.  When she attempted to cross the street again, she was struck by a white pickup truck.  The driver stopped and rendered aid.  The child was taken by ambulance to Medical Center of Arlington, where she later died.

Man killed in wrong-way wreck in Hurst

A van driven the wrong way on Airport Freeway in Hurst collided with a Kia Spectra recently, killing the Kia driver.  Authorities believe that the van's driver, Eric Supe, of Crowley, may have been intoxicated when the accident occurred.  The victim, Ricardo Magallon of Carrollton, died at a local hospital shortly after the wreck.

One killed in three-car wreck on Stemmons Freeway

One man was killed in a recent three-car wreck on I-35E / Stemmons Freeway in Dallas.  The accident happened when an SUV struck the concrete retaining wall in the middle of the freeway and spun to face northbound traffic in the southbound lanes of the highway near the Market Center Boulevard exit.  The driver of the SUV left the vehicle in the highway and walked away.  Meanwhile, a Honda Civic struck the SUV head-on, and was itself struck from the rear by a Pontiac Solaris.  The second collision started a fire that ungulfed all three vehicles.  The driver of the Civic died at the scene, while the Solaris driver was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital for treatment.  Authorities are investigating why the SUV driver left his vehicle on the highway.

Thirty six students injured in school bus wreck

Thirty six students were injured in a recent school bus accident in north Fort Worth.  The accident occurred at the intersection of Blue Mound Road and Intermodal Parkway.  The bus had stopped in traffic, and was struck by a Jeep Liberty driven by a 17 year old male.  While none of the injuries were life threatening, thirteen of the injured students were transported to an area hospital for treatment.  The other injured students were treated at the scene.

One killed and three hurt in Kaufman County crash

One man was killed and three others were injured in a crash on I-20 in Kaufman County.  The deceased, Ruben Garcia of Tyler, died at the scene after the car he was riding in entered the median, swerved back into the mainlanes and then flipped and skidded on its roof.  The three injured individuals were also in the vehicle.  Two were taken by helicopter, and one by ambulance, to Parkland Memorial Hospital and Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

DoSoto man killed in Grand Prairie wreck

A DeSoto man was killed in a recent Grand Prairie wreck.  The victim, Brad Gary, was driving his Honda Civic southbound in the 2600 block of South Great Southwest Parkway when his car veered into the center median and struck a light pole.  Gary, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Authorities continue to investigate as to whether any other vehicles were involved in this tragic wreck.

Arlington motorcyclist killed in Grand Prairie

An Arlington man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Grand Prairie this weekend.  The man, Jerry Glenn Riddle, was riding his Harley-Davidson northbound on Lake Ridge Parkway when he lost control and fell from his bike.  Authorities say that his head struck a guardrail in the fall.  Riddle was not wearing a helmet, and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Authorities continue to investigate as to whether any other vehicles were involved.

Motorcyclist killed in wreck with 18-wheeler

A motorcyclist was killed early Friday in a wreck with a tractor trailer.  The motorcyclist rear-ended the 18-wheeler on State Highway 183 near Story Road.  Investigators believe that the motorcyclist was heading east on the highway at a high speed when he crashed into the tractor trailer, which was traveling at normal highway speeds.  The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The truck driver was not injured in the wreck.

$62.7 million dollar settlement in 18-wheeler crash that killed four Texans

A $62.7 million dollar settlement has been reached in an 18-wheeler crash on the Oklahoma turnpike that killed ten people, including four Texans.  The accident occurred when a tractor trailer operated by Associated Wholesale Grocers Inc. slammed into a line of stopped cars.  Victims and survivors of the crash sued the company for failure to properly train and supervise its driver.  They hope that this large settlement will work a wake-up call for the trucking industry and prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Crowley ISD bus crash injures a dozen students

A dozen Crowley ISD students were injured Monday in a collision involving two school buses.  The accident occurred near North Crowley Cleburne Road and Melton Drive.  One bus was turning and the trailing bus didn't notice, and ran into the first bus.  This pushed the first bus into a brick facade surrounding a subdivision.  The injured children were taken to Cook Children's Medical Center and Harris Methodist Fort Worth.

Prominent Texas burn surgeon killed in motorcycle crash

Dr. Gary Purdue, chief of the burn section at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and co-director of the Parkland Memorial Hospital burn unit, was killed this weekend in a motorcycle crash at the age of 65.  Authorities say that Dr. Purdue was riding his motorcycle in north Dallas when a car struck and killed him.  Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash, and are trying to determine whether the car's driver was under the influence.

Stranded driver critically injured by taxi

A stranded driver was critically injured this weekend when a taxicab carrying seven passengers broadsided the driver's SUV.  The wreck occurred in downtown Dallas.  The accident pushed the SUV into the man, who was filling the vehicle with gas.  The taxi driver and the stranded driver were both injured in the accident, and were taken to area hospitals for treatment.  Some of the taxi's passengers suffered minor injuries.

Burleson wreck kills infant, injures mother

An infant was killed and his mother severely injured in a Burleson wreck.  Authorities say that a child started a minivan and put it into gear, causing it to hit the woman and the infant she was holding.  The woman and child were knocked down and run over.  The infant was pronounced dead at the scene, while the mother was taken to a hospital by helicopter ambulance.
