Fort Worth man dies in Grand Prairie crash

A Fort Worth man was killed in a wreck in Grand Prairie involving his pickup truck and a rail car.  Authorities report that the man, Frank Hauser of Fort Worth, apparently ran a stop sign in his pickup truck and crashed through a fence.  The truck then ran into a parked rail car and burst into flames.  Witnesses attempted to aid the victim, but were unable to pull him to safety before he was badly burned.  He was taken to Methodist Hospital Medical Center in Dallas, where he died.  Authorities are continuing to investigate the root cause of this tragic accident.

32 car pileup in Arlington injures 10

Ten people were injured in a giant pileup on Highway 360 in Arlington today.  The chain reaction crash started when a vehicle that had slowed down to exit the highway was rear-ended up another vehicle.  The impact caused the first car to spin into traffic.  A total of 32 cars and trucks were involved in the massive wreck.  Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident, but believe that slick conditions may have contributed to the incident.

Child hit crossing Southlake Boulevard

A child was struck by a car while crossing Southlake Boulevard Friday.  The child, whose name has not been released, was struck in front of Town Square in Southlake.  Several children were crossing the road when the victim was struck.  The child was taken by helicopter to Texas Harris Health Methodist Fort Worth Hospital for treatment for his injuries.  Authorities are continuing to investigate whether the car could have avoided striking the child.

Toddler dies in three-car wreck on I-20 in Grand Prairie

A one year old toddler boy was fatally injured in a recent wreck on I-20 in Grand Prairie.  The victim was a passenger in a Chevy Blazer, which became the middle car in a three-car pileup when it was struck from behind by a GMC pickup.  The Blazer was then pushed into the car in front of it.  The child was taken to Children's Medical Center Dallas Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Infant killed in hit and run crash on I-20

An infant was killed in a hit and run crash on I-20.  The accident occurred near the Texas 161 exit.  Authorities report that a GMC pickup traveling westbound crashed into the Chevy Blazer in which the infant was riding.  Three passengers from the Blazer were ejected in the crash.  The infant was not ejected, and was taken to Children's Hospital in Dallas by helicopter, where he later died from his injuries.  The three individuals who were ejected were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Two killed in tractor-trailer wreck

Two people were killed in a wreck in rural Johnson County involving a tractor-trailer rig.  Authorities report that a pickup truck struck the back of a Peterbilt tractor-trailer at the intersection of county roads 904 and 1017.  The pickup truck wound up under the big rig and the top of the truck was sheared off.  The pickup truck driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Mother and infant killed in Dallas wreck

A mother and her two year old daughter were killed in a wreck in the Red Bird area on Saturday.  The accident occurred in the 2700 block of W. Ledbetter.  The mother was driving a Chevrolet westbound when the car was struck by a Mercedes traveling at a high rate of speed.  The mother and her child died at the scene.  The driver of the Mercedes is accused of having been drinking, and has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and with public intoxication.

Motorcyclist killed in far north Dallas hit and run

A motorcyclist was killed in a recent far north Dallas hit and run accident.  Investigators say that the motorcyclist, Bennie Dee Barr, was killed near the intersection of Preston Road and Frankford Road.  The victim was traveling north when a slow-moving car cut in front of him suddenly.  Barr tried to stop, and skidded for 20 feet before striking the right front side of the car.  Barr was thrown over the hood of the car and landed 40 feet away.  Barr was taken to Parkland Hospital where he later died from severe head trauma.  The car's driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.  Police are continuing to search for the car's driver.

Four people were injured in a big crash on I-30 in Arlington between Center and Cooper streets.  The pileup occurred after a pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed wrecked, and involved 14 vehicles.  The injured victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment, and are expected to survive.  Investigations into whether the pickup driver may have been drinking are ongoing.

Rollover accident on 287 injures one

One person was injured in a rollover accident on Highway 287 near the city limits of Arlington and Mansfield.  Investigators report that the vehicle, a sedan, was struck from the side by a pickup truck.  The force of the collision pushed the sedan into a guard rail, causing two of its wheels to become airborne.  The sedan then flipped over.  The driver of the sedan, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.  The other driver escaped without injury.

14 year old killed in SUV rollover accident

A 14 year old girl from Arlington was killed in an SUV rollover accident.  Authorities say that the girl's boyfriend, also 14, had been drinking and was driving the family SUV when he crashed through a guard rail and rolled down an embankment.  The boy took the SUV without his parents' permission.  The girl died after she was ejected from the vehicle.  The driver and another teen were injured in the wreck.

Four children injured in wreck

Four children were injured in a wreck in Dallas on Saturday.  Authorities say that a woman was driving on Cesar Chavez Boulevard near Grand Avenue when she clipped a guard rail and struck a concrete pillar.  Five children were in the back of the car.  One child escaped injury, but the other four were taken to Children's Hospital in Dallas for treatment. Two of the injured children were in critical condition and two were in serious condition.  Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident, and the driver may be charged.

Six injured in multi-vehicle wreck in Dallas

Six people were injured in a multi-vehicle chain of collisions on the I-30 bridge over the Trinity River in Dallas.  The sequence of crashes commenced when a tractor-trailer rig slammed into the rear of a cement truck.  The impact caused the cement truck to flip over the center median, where it was hit by an oncoming 18-wheeler truck and four passenger vehicles.  The injured individuals included the drivers and passengers in the four vehicles.  Traffic was shut down for six hours as a result of the wreck.

Man killed in Arlington wreck

One person was injured in a two-car wreck on I-635 in Dallas today.  The incident occurred on the westbound lanes of the highway near the Preston Road exit.  Investigators report that a car was traveling slowly in the left center lane when a car came up behind it at a high rate of speed.  The second car failed to stop in time and crashed into the first car.  The driver in the first car was injured in the incident.

Tractor-trailer wreck on183

One person was injured in a rush-hour tractor-trailer wreck today on 183 the Airport Freeway at 360.  Authorities say that a sedan pulled in front of the commercial truck in heavy traffic and abruptly slowed down.  The truck then hit the sedan despite slamming on its breaks.  The injured person, a passenger in the sedan, was believed to not have been wearing a seat belt, and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.  Neither the driver of the sedan nor the big rig driver were injured.

Man dies after being struck by car

Second grader hit by pickup near school in north Fort Worth

A second grade student was hit by a pickup truck near Sam Rosen Elementary School in North Fort Worth last week.  The accident occurred near the intersection of NW 27th Street and Roosevelt Avenue.  The child, a girl, got out of her mother's car and apparently walked in front of a pickup.  The pickup driver was able to break before causing serious injury to the girl.  The child was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth and is expected to make a full recovery.
