Hill Country Farms Settles With Workers Over Workplace Violations
Hill Country Farms, a Texas company headquartered in Goldthwaite, Texas, settled their case with several mentally handicapped workers earlier this week. The workers, who were employed in an Iowa City, Iowa, turkey plant, were subjected to below minimum wage and uncompensated overtime, among other violations. All told, the federal judge who presided over the case ordered Hill Country Farms to pay $1.76 million.
