18-Wheelers Collide in Wheeler County

On Highway 152, a poorly maintained back road in Wheeler County, a sparsely populated area in the Texas panhandle, two 18-wheelers slammed into each other earlier this week. The results were tragic – and fatal. As the result of reckless driving, one driver was ejected from his cab, killing him. The other driver’s truck was thrown on its side and, sliding across the road, caught fire. Only by good luck was the man able to escape. His injures were non-life threatening, but he was sent to a local hospital.

Thousands of miles of Texas highways are poorly lit and falling into disrepair. The result is that wrecks are more common, including fatal accidents like the one in Wheeler County. Do you regularly travel on these highways? You should be careful!
