Burleson wreck kills infant, injures mother

An infant was killed and his mother severely injured in a Burleson wreck.  Authorities say that a child started a minivan and put it into gear, causing it to hit the woman and the infant she was holding.  The woman and child were knocked down and run over.  The infant was pronounced dead at the scene, while the mother was taken to a hospital by helicopter ambulance.

Hit and run injures child on bicycle

An 11 year old boy was injured when he was recently hit by a pickup truck in the parking lot of a Walmart in Burleson.  The boy was riding his bicycle when the accident occurred.  The boy was riding through parked cars when he emerged into traffic and was struck by the pickup as it passed him.  The boy fell to the ground.  He was treated at a Fort Worth hospital for his injuries, and has been released.  The pickup truck did not stop, and authorities are trying to locate the driver.

16 year old girl dies in wreck with truck

A 16 year old girl was killed in a wreck south of Burleson.  The girl was traveling southbound on Tarver Road in a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo when she crashed into a large truck that was parked on the side of the road, facing north.  The truck was a "chipper" truck, a vehicle equipped with machinery to grind and chop tree limbs into wood chips.  Two workers were on top of the truck when the accident happened, but they were not injured.

Burleson teen killed in one-vehicle car accident

A one-vehicle car accident in Burleson, Texas, claimed the life of an 18-year-old man on last Tuesday.

 

The victim, Abel Avalos, was driving his Nissan Altima southwest on Renfro Street. Avalos was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck a brick mailbox, causing his car to spin. The car came to a stop after the driver’s door struck a utility pole located on the property of St. Ann Catholic Church.

 

For nearly four hours, police shut down Renfro Street from Rosamond Street to Cliffside Drive. Also, between 1,500 and 2,000 Oncor customers lost their electricity for over 90 minutes.

 

Avalos was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at around 2:45 a.m.

Woman killed in head-on collision with tractor trailer

A Burleson, Texas, woman is dead after a head-on collision with a tractor trailer on Monday evening.

The deadly accident took place about five miles south of Cleburne, Texas. The deceased victim is 24-year-old Megan Porter who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Porter, who was wearing a seatbelt, was driving on Farm Road 1434 when she entered a curve at an unsafe speed. Her car skidded left into the northbound lane where it collided head-on with a tractor trailer.  The driver of the tractor trailer was Juan Castaneda of Cleburne, Texas.
