Woman killed by hit and run driver on North Central Expressway

A woman has died from injuries she sustained when she was hit by a hit and run driver on North Central Expressway.  The woman was hit by a pickup truck when she was trying to cross the highway near its intersection with Plano Road.  The pickup driver did not stop.  He was caught a few miles further up the highway, and has been charged with failure to stop and render aid.  The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment where she later died from her injuries.

Woman and three children injured in west Dallas wreck

A woman and three children were injured in a west Dallas wreck.  The accident occurred on Walton Walker Boulevard near the intersection of Singleton Boulevard.  Authorities say that the car that the woman and children were in lost control, and was hit by a large pickup truck.  The pickup truck driver was not injured.  Two of the children were ejected from the car.  All three children and the woman were taken to area hospitals for treatment.  Authorities are continuing to investigate what caused the woman to lose control of her car.

Driver injured in firey crash on Dallas North Tollway

A Cadillac was stalled in traffic on the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway near the Trinity Mills Road exit when another vehicle crashed into its rear.  The Cadillac was pushed into a retaining wall and burst into flames.  A Dallas police officer was near the accident and is credited with saving the driver of the Cadillac.  The officer broke the passenger side window and pulled the driver out of the burning car to safety.  The driver, who is expected to survive, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.  No word on injuries in the other car.

Injury accident on Central Expressway

One person was injured in a fender-bender on the service road of southbound Central Expressway near Northpark Mall today.  Investigators report that a car was turning left from Park Lane onto the service road, when it was hit in the intersection by a car traveling eastbound on Park.  One person in the turning car was injured, and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Woman Dies in Car Crash on I-35E

Darla Dale, a 39-year-old resident of Lake Dallas, was killed in a car accident on Interstate 35E in Lewisville over the weekend of May 9th.  The accident occurred when Dale’s vehicle struck a retaining wall located near the FM 407 exit.

After striking the wall, Dale’s vehicle spun, hitting two other cars. No injuries to the drivers and passengers of the other cars were reported. The accident is under investigation, and police are still unsure what caused Dale to lose control of her vehicle.

Wrong-way accident on Dallas North Tollway kills 16-year-old girl

In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 10th, 16-year-old Kara Taylor of Little Elm was killed in a car accident caused by a driver going the wrong way on the Dallas North Tollway. Taylor’s 15-year-old friend, who was also riding in the car when the accident occurred, suffered only minor injuries.

The driver who caused the accident is 24-year-old Mariza Martinez of Dallas. Martinez was driving her Ford pickup south in the northbound lanes when she hit Taylor’s SUV. As of Sunday evening, no charges had been filed against Martinez. However, Trooper Lonny Haschel of the Texas Department of Public Safety says charges could be filed later, depending on the outcome of the investigation.
