One killed, three injured in car accident with 18-wheeler

An Irving, Texas, woman was killed Saturday night after the car she was riding in ran a red light and collided with an 18-wheeler. Three others were injured in the accident.

The victim was 64-year-old Blanca Benavides. Benavides was riding in the backseat of the Toyota SUV when it struck the 18-wheeler.

The car accident took place at around 8pm on West Irving Boulevard near the 2200 block. The SUV was being driven by a 38-year-old Irving woman whose name has not been released.

The driver and two other passengers, a 3-year-old and an 8-year-old, were taken to Dallas-area hospitals. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt.
