James Walker, 51, Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident on Crowley Road in South Fort Worth

On Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at approximately 1:30 James Walker, 51, was standing in the southbound lanes in the 9900 block of Crowley Road in South Fort Worth when a car traveling southbound hit him and drove away without stopping, according to Fort Worth police. Police, along with Walker’s 23 year-old daughter, Brooke Walker, are urging anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or anyone who has any leads, to come forward. “The slightest detail would be beneficial…Even if they don’t think it’s important, it is. It’s extremely important to us,” stated Brook Walker. A mirror from a vehicle was found at the scene, and police speculate that the suspect was driving a metallic burgundy Toyota Scion. Tragically, this is the second fatal hit-and-run accident that has occurred on Crowley Road in the past six months. The other victim was 14 year-old Deston Bibbs, who was riding his bike when an 18-wheeler struck Bibbs, and was not aware that he’d hit anyone. The accident occurred approximately one mile north of where Walker was killed. The driver in Bibbs’ case been cleared of any wrongdoing. Legal Commentary:

Until the suspect is identified and in custody, the civil claim that can be brought forth in the mean time in this tragic hit-and-run accident rests in the type of insurance the deceased victim had. If Mr. Walker owned a full coverage or a liability policy, his insurance company should be able to provide his family compensation to assist in covering medical costs, and other final expenses. Once the suspect is located, the family can file an additional civil claim against the responsible party’s insurance company for further compensatory damage and loss, in addition to the multiple criminal charges the responsible party will face. Although no amount of money can replace the loss of a loved one who was taken away in such a horrific, unexpected manner, consulting with an attorney will ensure that you receive the best possible outcome for your claim. If you or a loved one have been directly affected by an accident such as the one mentioned above, the experienced wrongful death and personal injury attorneys at Fears | Nachawati can provide you and your family with the legal guidance and representation needed to successfully pursue a claim against the guilty party.
